Shakeel Dustagheer FRCS (Plast)
Mr Dustagheer completed his medical studies at the Queen’s University of Belfast in 2002. His early surgical training took place in Northern Ireland.
He undertook a number of sub-speciality fellowships including two nationally awarded Training Interface Group fellowships in the areas of hand surgery at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and Major Trauma at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He also undertook a fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in the area of peripheral nerve surgery and at the St Andrew’s Centre in Chelmsford. He has been comprehensively trained across the breath of plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery.
He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, fully licensed with the General Medical Council (GMC 6054746) and fully accredited on the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery. He is an NHS appointed Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in Belfast.
His specialist interests are in the areas of hand, peripheral nerve, skin oncology and general plastic and reconstructive surgery. He has published in the peer-reviewed Plastic Surgery literature, in addition to presenting his work both nationally and internationally. He also has a MSc in Trauma Surgery from the University of Swansea. He is currently the Training Programme Director responsible for the training of plastic surgeons in Northern Ireland and enjoys working with the next generation of surgeons.
