Andrew Kennedy MD FRCS FRCSI
Mr Andrew Kennedy is an Upper GI Surgeon based in the Royal Victoria Hospital, specialising in all types of hernia repair to include inguinal and groin hernia at Fitzwilliam Clinic.
After qualifying from Queens University in Belfast, he trained in Belfast becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in Ireland, he also completed an MD by thesis at Queens University.
Mr Kennedy subspecialised in Upper Gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery and was Upper GI Fellow in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia in 1998. In Australia Mr Kennedy was also trained in obesity surgery.
He is on the council of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. Since appointment as a Consultant Surgeon in Belfast in 2000, he has trained further in laparoscopic obesity surgery including adjustable gastric band and gastric bypass. Obesity surgery is undertaken in the Ulster Independant Clinic in association with the Gravitas group.
