Scar Revision

Scar revision is plastic surgery performed to improve the condition or appearance of a scar anywhere on your body. Normally at least a year should pass before a scar correction is performed, so that the scar has had a chance to soften and perhaps improve spontaneously.

What does the surgery involve?

Scar revisions are normally performed under local anaesthetic. The old scar is removed by one of several plastic surgery techniques and is repaired.

What can I expect?

All new scars will initially be red. Fading occurs within 6 – 24 months depending on the scar’s location and the patient’s skin type.
