Mr Andrew Kennedy MD FRCS FRCSI
Andrew Kennedy is an Upper GI Surgeon based in the Royal Victoria Hospital. After qualifying from Queens University in belfast, he trained in Belfast becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in Ireland, he also completed an MD by thesis at Queens University. Specialising in hernia procedures at Fitzwilliam Clinic, Andrew Kennedy is experienced in all types of hernia repair to include inguinal and groin hernia.
He subspecialised in Upper Gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery and was Upper GI Fellow in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia in 1998. In Australia Mr Kennedy was also trained in obesity surgery.
Mr Kennedy is on the council of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
Since appointment as a Consultant Surgeon in Belfast in 2000, he has trained further in laparoscopic obesity surgery including adjustable gastric band and gastric bypass. Obesity surgery is undertaken in the Ulster Independant Clinic in association with the Gravitas group.
